Cirque du Macabre

Cirque du Macabre is an adult/YA visual novel about a young female mechanic who takes on a once-in-a-lifetime job offer from an infamous traveling circus known for its extreme spectacles. The story follows the mechanic, Ophelia, as she discovers the gory truths behind the circus’s acts and must decide—with the help of the viewer—whether money and recognition are worth being complicit in a system that creates entertainment from the suffering of others. Set in a richly illustrated gothic-steampunk European-inspired city with horror elements, Cirque du Macabre blends the glamour and grime of a rapidly industrializing city into one dizzying performance where illusion becomes difficult to discern from reality.
